Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl Enters Multi-Year Deal with ESPN
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl has completed a multi-year agreement with ESPN and announces a new four-year deal with the Big 12 and Big Ten conferences - a move that substantially improves its team selections from both conferences and boosts the game's payout and visibility.
ESPN will televise the 22nd Annual Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, which kicks off at 8:00 p.m. MST on Dec. 28, 2010, in Tempe's Sun Devil Stadium. ESPN reaches nearly 100 million households.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl will have the third selection from Big 12 Conference after Bowl Championship Series teams are determined and the third or fourth pick from the Big Ten Conference after BCS selections. The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl previously had the sixth selection from each conference.
"This agreement will take the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl to a new level," Fiesta Bowl Chairman of the Board Duane Woods said. "As the only bowl organization to host three NCAA-certified postseason bowl games, we're proud to team up with ESPN and present a match-up that college football fans won't want to miss. We're grateful for Insight's continued support, as well as the leadership of Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman and the city council in helping the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl reach its potential."
Participating universities will earn a record $6.65 million in payouts from the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl.
"We are pleased to continue our support of the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. There is great value to be associated with an event of this caliber that benefits the community, supports higher education and provides opportunities for our clients, partners and teammates," said Dave Casillo, senior vice president, strategic partnerships and marketing for Insight. "Hosting higher-ranked teams from the Big Ten and Big 12, combined with the greatly enhanced visibility and reach through ESPN, will significantly magnify the value of this event for Insight."
The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl offers one of the best bargains in major-college football, with a family of four able to attend for less than $100. Game tickets start as low as $22; for ticket information, visitwww.buffalowildwingsbowl.org or call 480-350-0911.
"Tempe is excited about these developments, as this will bring greater national exposure to both the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl and our city," Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman said.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl joins ESPN's postseason college football lineup, which includes the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1 and the BCS National Championship game on Jan. 10, both in Glendale, Ariz.
"We are thrilled to have the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl back on our networks," said Burke Magnus, ESPN senior vice president, college sports programming. "This premier match-up between teams from two elite conferences in the Big 12 and Big Ten is a great addition to our extensive bowl schedule."
