Kristell Millan Crowned 2012-13 Fiesta Bowl Queen

Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Fiesta Bowl crowned Kristell Millan from Arizona State University the 2012-13 Fiesta Bowl Queen Friday evening at a private event held in Dillard’s at Fashion Square Mall.

Millan, 22, is a senior at Arizona State University majoring in finance and global politics.  She is a member of the Barrett Honors College, Hispanic Business Students Association and the Pat Tillman Leadership Through Action program.

She also mentors youth on educational attainment and works as an undergraduate student assistant for the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education. Millan currently resides in Scottsdale and attended Coronado High School.

Millan's first duty as Queen will be to appear at the Wells Fargo Fiesta Bowl Million Dollar Hole-in-One taking place at the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club from November 1 to 11. Thousands of golfers of all skill levels aim for a hole-in-one on a 125-yard hole. The top three finishers each day, in addition to anyone who scores a hole-in-one, will advance to the finals on November 11th for a shot at the $1 million hole or two $50,000 holes. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Fiesta Bowl Charities.

A scholarship opportunity of a lifetime, the Queen & Court serve as spokespersons for the Fiesta Bowl representing the Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and sponsors to the local community. Court members annually attend beloved Valley events such as the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade presented by Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, and various other Fiesta Bowl events.

2012 Court Biographies:

Lauren Erdelyi, 21, is a senior at the University of Arizona majoring in psychology and conservation biology with a minor in Spanish. She is a member of Chi Omega Sorority, the Arizona Ambassadors Honorary, and the Blue Key National Honor Society.  Christina currently works as a Student Coordinator in the Office of Admissions and the Office of Student Affairs at U of A and is a preceptor for a field botany course. Erdelyi is from Tucson and attended Atascadero High School.

Savanna Fletcher, 19, is a sophomore at the University of Arizona majoring in computer science with a minor in criminal justice.  She is a member of ZonaZoo Crew, a student government group, and UA Best, a physical fitness and stunting club.  Savanna also served as a mentor for middle school students through the SOAR program in the subjects of math and science, and volunteers as an assistant coach for the Tucson Cheer Academy. Fletcher currently resides in Tucson, but is originally from Sierra Vista where she attended Buena High School.

Devin Gregory, 22, is a senior at the University of Arizona majoring in political science with minors in leadership studies & practices and adolescents, community & education.  She is president of the Bobcats Senior Honorary, and vice president of Internal Affairs of the Panhellenic Council. Devin is a classroom volunteer at Sahuaro High School and a volunteer fundraiser for the Make a Wish Foundation and New Beginnings. Gregory is from Tucson and attended Sahuaro High School.

Sarah Philippe, 22, is a senior at the University of Arizona majoring in business management.  She is the Executive Director for Up ‘til Dawn in support of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the treasurer for the Black n Blue Hip Hop Dance Team.  Sarah is also the formal recruitment chair for the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House.  Philippe currently resides in Tucson, but is originally from Scottsdale and attended Horizon High School.

Chelsea Wold, 22, is a senior at the University of Arizona pursuing a dual degree in Psychology and Journalism.  She is a member of Chi Omega Sorority, Alpha Phi Omega Community Service Fraternity and Phi Alpha Delta: Pre-Law Fraternity.  Chelsea currently serves as an intern for Arizona Public Media, and as a Wildcast Field Reporter for University of Arizona Television. Wold currently resides in Tucson, but is originally from Phoenix where she attended Desert Vista High School.

Dajana Zlaticanin, 19, is a sophomore at GateWay Community College majoring in political science. She currently serves as president of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and director of public relations for the World Explorer’s Club. Dajana is also a member of the Honors Program and has attended the Global Leadership Retreat for Community Colleges.  Dajana currently resides in Tempe, but is originally from Montenegro in southeastern Europe.
