Lindsay Fernandez Crowned the 2010-2011 Fiesta Bowl Queen

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Lindsay Fernandez from Grand Canyon University has been crowned the 2010-2011 Fiesta Bowl Queen, as announced at the private coronation held on October 6. 

Fernandez is a junior at Grand Canyon University majoring in biology with a pre-med focus.  She is very active in and around the community, volunteering at Banner Hospital, Young Life and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  She also spends time tutoring other students in math and science.

Fernandez is a well-rounded young woman, as her activities have taken her abroad.  She recently spent a semester in Central America where she was a youth leader and mission trip coordinator. 

Born and raised in the valley, Fernandez graduated from Sunrise Mountain High School before attending Grand Canyon University.  She will graduate from GCU in 2012 and has plans to attend medical school.

Her first duties as Queen will be to attend and participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure with her Court on Sunday, October 10.
