Whiteman has more than 30 years of experience working with technology companies with an emphasis on the software industry. His areas of expertise include software development, distribution and general management. In 1995 as Chairman and CEO Whiteman led Viasoft to a very successful IPO. The company grew to $114 million in revenue and $16 million in net income. In 1996 Viasoft was the top performing stock on NASDAQ and the market cap grew to over $1.5 billion. While at Viasoft Whiteman was voted the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year in Technology by Ernst and Young and ranked as the 21st hottest entrepreneur by Success Magazine. Viasoft ranked No. 22 on Forbes list of the best “200 Small Companies in America.” Whiteman led the sale of the company to ASG in June 2000.

Whiteman remains heavily engaged in the technology industry serving on the Boards of two public companies, Actuate and Unify. He serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee and Chairman of the Corporate Goveranance Committee at Actuate and is Chairman of the Board at Unify. He serves on two privately held technology companies, Flypaper and Intesource. Whiteman is heavily involved in the venture community as an investor in several funds and has participated in a number of private equity placements.

Whiteman also serves as a Trustee of Taylor University as well as serves on the Board of the Fiesta Bowl. He graduated from Taylor University with a BA degree and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati.
