SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Chandler Hamilton High School, which stretched its win streak to 44 games, was named Fiesta Bowl Arizona High School Team of the Week.

The Huskies defeated Mesa Desert Ridge 28-6 to earn the honor.  Chandler Hamilton lost most of their offensive line and other key players from last year’s state championship team, but they steamrolled the team that they had beaten in the state title game last year.

The Fiesta Bowl Arizona High School Team of the Week is an effort to promote high school football by recognizing deserving teams statewide. Each week, the winning team will be featured on FOX Sports Arizona’s AIA High School Game of the Week telecast and on its website –

The Fiesta Bowl Arizona High School Team of the Week is selected by a panel of seven former media members and a longtime high school coach.

Others receiving votes included Paradise Valley, Joseph City, Chandler Basha, Tucson Salpointe Catholic, Snowflake, Coolidge, and Queen Creek.

The Fiesta Bowl is a non-profit organization founded by Arizona community leaders in 1971. Through the creation of the Festival of College Football, which is inclusive of more than 40 statewide events, the annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, the organization continues to promote volunteerism, athletic achievement and higher education. The Fiesta Bowl has hosted seven games that have decided the college football national championship, including four Bowl Championship Series title games. This season, the Fiesta Bowl and its 2,900 volunteers will host the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. and the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
