Glendale Deer Valley Arizona High School Team of the Week

Scottsdale, Ariz.- The Glendale Deer Valley Skyhawks were named the Fiesta Bowl Arizona High School Team of the Week after beating league opponent Peoria Centennial 14-7 to move to 7-0 on the season.
Deer Valley was led by senior running back Trae Armstrong, who rushed for 135 yards and both Skyhawks touchdowns.
Deer Valley beat out Mesa Desert Ridge and Lakeside Blue Ridge for Team of the Week honors. Mesa bounced back from a loss to defeat Basha 63-24, while Lakeside posted a 40-0 win over Alchesay.  
Others receiving votes included Tempe Marcos de Niza, Thatcher, Chandler Hamilton and Sahuarita. 
The Fiesta Bowl Arizona High School Team of the Week is an effort to promote high school football by recognizing deserving teams statewide. Each week, the winning team will be featured on FOX Sports Arizona's AIA High School Game of the Week telecast and on its website -
The Fiesta Bowl Arizona High School Team of the Week is selected by a panel of seven media members and a longtime high school coach. 
The Fiesta Bowl is a non-profit organization founded by Arizona community leaders in 1971. Through the creation of the Festival of College Football, which is inclusive of more than 40 statewide events, the annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, the organization continues to promote volunteerism, athletic achievement and higher education. The Fiesta Bowl has hosted seven games that have decided the college football national championship, including four Bowl Championship Series title games. This season, the Fiesta Bowl and its 2,900 volunteers will host the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. and the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
