Scottsdale Saguaro Arizona High School Team of the Week

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Scottsdale Saguaro High School Sabercats were named the Fiesta Bowl Arizona High School team of the week after improving to 5-0 with a 62-24 win over Glendale Cactus High School.

Running Back D.J. Foster ran for 248 yards and four touchdowns, and QB Luke Rubenzer threw for four more scores in the first half. The Sabercats are averaging 61 points per game so far this season.

Scottsdale Saguaro narrowly edged out the Nogales High School for the honor. Nogales moved to 5-0 with an impressive 30-20 victory over Tucson Palo Verde.

The Fiesta Bowl Arizona High School Team of the Week is an effort to promote high school football by recognizing deserving teams statewide. Each week, the winning team will be featured on FOX Sports Arizona’s AIA High School Game of the Week telecast and on its website –

The Fiesta Bowl Arizona High School Team of the Week is selected by a panel of seven former media members and a longtime high school coach.

Others receiving votes included Florence, Scottsdale Notre Dame, Poston Butte, Tucson Ironwood Ridge, Anthem Boulder Creek, Flagstaff and Oro Valley Canyon del Oro.


The Fiesta Bowl is a non-profit organization founded by Arizona community leaders in 1971. Through the creation of the Festival of College Football, which is inclusive of more than 40 statewide events, the annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, the organization continues to promote volunteerism, athletic achievement and higher education. The Fiesta Bowl has hosted seven games that have decided the college football national championship, including four Bowl Championship Series title games. This season, the Fiesta Bowl and its 2,900 volunteers will host the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. and the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
